Membership Benefits

VBFAA membership provides you with real tangible benefits, including discounts on services, exposure to potential customers and access to information. VBFAA members have access to free inservice training at convenient locations throughout the state. For more information call 800.53VBFAA.

Membership Types

VBFAA has several types of members including:

Regular Membership

If you are a licensed company, selling, installing, servicing or monitoring burglar or fire alarm systems in the Commonwealth of Virginia that has been in business for at least one year, then you should be a regular member of VBFAA. Regular members  receive full member benefits in both associations.

Applicant Members

Dealers who have been in business less than one year join in applicant member status. Upon one year anniversary of the company starting business, member status will change to Regular member. Applicant members receive member publications and discounts on services including training but shall not be permitted to vote or hold an officer’s position, nor be listed as an Association member in any publications or literature.

Associate Membership

Open to any manufacturer or supplier of equipment or services for alarm industry. Associate members receive VBFAA publications are listed in VBFAA directories and receive discount rates on advertising and exhibit space.

Individual

Open to persons who engage in businesses that provide support or significant contributions to the electronic security industry; are not employed by a licensed electronic security business; and are not eligible for another membership category. Individual members are entitled to all the rights of association except the right to vote. Individual members may represent the association and hold office.

Public Safety

Open to any member of a police or fire department of any governmental organization, or any governmental agency concerned with law enforcement or fire safety upon request of their department head. Public safety members shall not have the right to vote or hold office. This membership shall continue only as long as the enabling employment continues.

Affiliate

Open to any individual or business entity that does not qualify for membership under any other membership category. The affiliate member must contribute significant value or expertise to the electronic systems industry, or provide design, installation, service, or monitoring of electronic security systems for its own use and not to the general public or to alarm dealers. Affiliate members shall not have the right to vote or hold office.
